Research Interests 

  • Probabilistic models for recurrent repairs in the framework of g-renewal and quazi-renewal processes.
  • Bivariate (e.g., in time & mileage) survival regression models with fixed and time-dependent covariates.
  • Regularization techniques for ill-posed reliability estimation problems.
  • Reliability condition-based maintenance of vehicle fleets based on real-time (“big”) data from connected vehicle fleets.

Background 

Vasiliy Krivtsov is a practitioner and a consultant in Reliability Engineering, Risk Analysis and Applied Statistics employed by Ford Motor Company as a Senior Staff Technical Specialist. He holds a PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from Kharkov Polytechnic Institute, Ukraine and a PhD in Reliability Engineering from the University of Maryland, USA. Krivtsov is the author and co–author of over 50 professional publications, including a book, dozens of journal papers, 9 patented inventions and 6 trade secret inventions on statistical algorithms of Ford. He sits on the editorial board of Elsveir's international journal on “Reliability Engineering & System Safety” and is a Vice Chair of the International Reliability Symposium (RAMS) Tutorials Committee.

Krivtsov’s Ford responsibilities include: reliability analysis of field data and early failure detection procedures; probabilistic risk assessment of potential product recalls; statistical forecasting of warranty cost; teaching corporate reliability seminars (incl. Ford of North America, Europe, Mexico, Brazil, Australia). He also serves as a technical liaison of Ford's Automotive Safety Office to the US National Highway Safety Administration (NHTSA) on reliability issues.  Most recently, with the emergence of real-time (“big”) data from connected vehicle fleets, Krivtsov became involved in research activities on Reliability Condition Based Maintenance of vehicle fleets.
